SOURCENEXT Unveils Mobile Carrier Partner Program at Mobile World Congress to Create Instant Sales Channel for App Developers in Japanese Market
20-Year Pioneer Helps Global Publishers Add and Monetize Their Mobile Apps Within Subscription-Based App Programs Offered by Japan’s Leading Mobile Carriers
BARCELONA, SPAIN AND PALO ALTO, CA -- February 27, 2017 -- SOURCENEXT (TYO: 4344), Japan’s market-leading software publisher and distributor, today unveiled its mobile carrier program for global software developers at Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona, Spain. As part of its broader Japanese market penetration program, SOURCENEXT localizes non-Japanese apps and helps monetize them through the three largest Japanese mobile carriers: au by KDDI, NTT docomo, and SoftBank. SOURCENEXT introduces apps into these carriers’ market-leading app store subscription services - a different app purchasing model than many other parts of the world - and invites developers attending Mobile World Congress to submit their mobile apps for consideration for this program. SOURCENEXT is also previewing its new iGotcha app for multi-language voicemail transcription to international audiences at the show, in Hall 6, Stand 6N2.
The Japanese software market is reaching nearly $250 billion (International Monetary Fund), and smartphone subscriptions are expected to reach 100 million in 2018 (MM Research Institute). Asian mobile users are spending on average $.20 more than the global average of $.50 monthly in-app purchases per user, due in large part to the monthly "all you can eat" app subscription services offered by Japan’s largest mobile carriers. SOURCENEXT helps US and other foreign based software companies launch their desktop and mobile apps in Japan with a full-service market penetration program to drive ongoing profitability - including UI localization, domestic customer support, merchandising, marketing, and more. Most importantly, SOURCENEXT helps developers optimize the subscription services and generate revenue share with Japan’s three leading mobile carriers, which collectively equate to $1 billion annually.
"Japan is one of the largest app markets in the world, and is expected to continue on a trajectory of growth. The challenge for most non-Japanese app developers is understanding how to appeal to this not-so-familiar audience," said Noriyuki Matsuda, CEO and founder of SOURCENEXT. "Japanese consumers have a wholly different way of discovering and engaging with apps, and their service providers are a driving force behind that as trusted app curators. Our mobile carrier partnership program helps developers shorten the distance from market introduction to profitability, through these trusted relationships."
SOURCENEXT has built deep relationships with each of these mobile carriers and has partner apps in each of their subscription services -- more than 20 SOURCENEXT apps in total. For international developers seeking to get involved, SOURCENEXT localizes the app for these carriers.
Further establishing its multi-national app expertise, SOURCENEXT also recently launched its own mobile app iGotcha, which the company is showcasing at Mobile World Congress. iGotcha is a multi-lingual voicemail assistant that transcribes voicemails in 11 languages, sends them to users’ email or Messenger, and stores the voicemail text in the app for users to respond to at their leisure. SOURCENEXT launched iGotcha in U.S. app stores in January.
